On Thursday 16 October, a meeting was held in Milan "Italy-China Dialogue: business opportunities and new supply chain scenarios"organised in the framework of the strategic cooperation agreement between Italy China Council Foundation (ICCF) and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), China's leading national organisation dedicated to trade and investment promotion.
The event saw the extraordinary participation of Liu JiannanVice-President of CCPIT, accompanied by a delegation of seven high-level representatives of the Chinese economic and institutional world. During their work, the two institutions explored the prospects for economic cooperation between Italy and China, with a particular focus on the new dynamics of the global supply chain and the challenges related to environmental and social sustainability.
On the Italian side, ICCF reiterated the importance of promoting an open and continuous dialogue with Chinese counterparts. "This meeting is an important step in strengthening our relationship and bilateral economic relations"said the ICCF President, Mario Boselliopening the proceedings and recalling the long-standing friendship between ICCF and CCPIT. "Solidarity between the two networks produces shared synergies and this is the way to concretely help the business world. Collaboration between Italian and Chinese companies is a fundamental lever to face global challenges and create new opportunities for shared growth".
In his speech, Liu Jiannan recalled that 2025 marks the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Italy and China, highlighting the significant progress made in many areas over the years: 'This appointment marks the beginning of a new chapter in the cooperation between our two institutions,' Liu Jiannan said. 'We will spare no effort to provide solid support for the development of Italian enterprises in China, promoting greater cooperation between the companies of our two countries in the fields of industrial production, artificial intelligence, the digital economy, healthcare, and other sectors. At the same time, we hope that Italy will provide a fair, transparent, secure business environment for Chinese companies investing and operating in Italy."
During the meeting, updates on the China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE)the world's first national trade fair dedicated to production chains, which will be held in Beijing 22 to 26 June 2026. Organised by CCPIT, the event is an international platform for the promotion of partnerships and the sharing innovative solutions. ICCF will again be engaged in the support for Italian companies interested in participating in the fair and in strengthening ties between the two business communities.
The day also saw the signing of two cooperation agreements and ended with a networking lunch that fostered the direct dialogue between entrepreneurs, institutional representatives and members of the Chinese delegation, creating the basis for future collaborations and joint projects. With this appointment, ICCF and CCPIT confirm their commitment to strengthening economic ties between Italy and China, fostering dialogue, cooperation and sustainable growth.
