Today, the first edition of the prestigious event took place in the esteemed setting of Palazzo Clerici in Milan. Festival Mondo Cinese<\/em><\/strong>a day entirely dedicated to contemporary China, told through meetings, ideas and contributions from protagonists of the institutional, economic and cultural world. The initiative, organised by theItaly China Council Foundation (ICCF)<\/strong>The event brought together over 200 participants, including entrepreneurs, institutional representatives, academics, professionals, and enthusiasts of international relations.<\/p>\n

The festival was created to celebrate Mondo Cinese<\/em><\/a>, the first Italian scientific journal dedicated to contemporary China, founded in 1973 by Senator Vittorino Colombo. In fifty years of history, the journal has helped bring Italians closer to China, offering tools for analysis, knowledge, and comparison. With this first edition of the Festival, that tradition is renewed and transformed into a lively, concrete, and participatory event.<\/p>\n

The daily role and mission of our Foundation is to be a bridge between Italy and China at a political, economic, commercial, and cultural level. The China World Festival shares the same spirit: to offer a space for professionals, civil society, and all China enthusiasts to deepen their understanding of the multifaceted dimensions of this extraordinary country, which continues to fascinate, challenge, and inspire us. <\/em>stated Mario Boselli,<\/strong>, President of the Italy China Council Foundation.This first edition marks the start of an annual event that we intend to grow as a space for updating and discussion in the dialogue between Italy and China.<\/em><\/p>\n

A journey to discover contemporary China<\/u><\/strong><\/h2>\n

Opening the proceedings, alongside ICCF President Mario Boselli, were Massimo Ambrosetti<\/strong> (Ambassador of Italy to the People's Republic of China) Li Xiaoyong<\/strong> (Minister-Counsellor and Charg\u00e9 d'Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of the PRC in Italy), Raffaele Cattaneo<\/strong> (Undersecretary to the Presidency for International and European Relations of the Lombardy Region), Filippo Barberis<\/strong> (Head of the Mayor of Milan's Cabinet) and Cheng Xuan<\/strong> (General Manager of ICBC Milan).<\/p>\n

La Plenary session<\/strong>, chaired by Francesca Spigarelli<\/strong> (Professor of Applied Economics at the University of Macerata), opened the discussion on the new global geopolitical balances with Ettore Francesco Sequi<\/strong> (formerly Secretary General of the MAECI and Ambassador of Italy to the People's Republic of China) and John Tria<\/strong> (Professor of Political Economy and former Minister of Economy and Finance). At the heart of the debate is China's growing role in redefining international power dynamics and global value chains.<\/p>\n

From this general overview, attention has turned to the near future. Liu Chenhu<\/strong> Head of Corporate and Investment Banking at ICBC Milano Francesca Spigarelli <\/strong>(Professor of Applied Economics at the University of Macerata), and Filippo Fasulo<\/strong> (Head of the Asia Observatory and the Geoeconomics Observatory at ISPI), led by the moderator Plinio Innocenzi<\/strong> (Professor of Materials Science and Technology at the University of Sassari and former Scientific Attach\u00e9 at the Italian Embassy in the PRC), have analysed the 15th Five-Year Plan as a map of China's ambitions for 2026\u20132030, encompassing technological self-sufficiency, sustainable growth, and an increasingly quality-oriented economy.<\/p>\n

Changing China from within has been at the heart of the confrontation between Guido Samarani<\/strong> (formerly Professor of History and Institutions of Asia at Ca' Foscari University of Venice), Beatrice Gallelli<\/strong> (Researcher and Professor of Chinese Language and Literature at Ca' Foscari University of Venice) and Marco Ferri<\/strong> (China Expert at the European External Action Service \u2013 EEAS). Moderated by Sara Berloto<\/strong> (Head of the ICCF Study Centre), the discussion highlighted the evolution of the Chinese Communist Party's role, the new language of official discourse, and transformations in relations with the European Union.<\/p>\n

The route continued on the front company<\/strong>, where Luca Lisandroni<\/strong> (CEO of Brunello Cucinelli) and Francesco Boggio Ferraris<\/strong> (Director of ICCF Academy and Marketing) guided participants on a journey into brand China, a place where the fashion house's humanistic values meet a civilisation that is both ancient and projected towards the future.<\/p>\n

From here, the gaze broadened to encompass the forces that are reshaping the economic context in which Italian and Chinese companies operate today. Introducing this change in perspective was Jinny Yan<\/strong> (Chief China Economist at ICBC Standard Bank), who outlined the main dynamics of the current phase of the Chinese economy.<\/p>\n

On this basis, the discussion then developed, moderated by Andrea Cabrini<\/strong> (Journalist, Director of ClassCNBC and Co-director of Milano Finanza), among Giuliano Noci<\/strong> Pro-Rector of Politecnico di Milano Lorenzo Riccardi<\/strong> (Chairman of the Board of Directors of EUSME Centre) and Renzo Cavalieri<\/strong> (Professor of East Asian Law at Ca' Foscari University of Venice and Of Counsel at BonelliErede Law Firm). The discussion offered an interpretation of the main transformations in the Chinese economy, focusing on technological innovation, new geopolitical balances, and a progressive opening of international financial markets.<\/p>\n

The path then turned towards the field of science and innovation. In the panel moderated by Francesco Boggio Ferraris<\/strong> (Director of Academy and Marketing at ICCF) Roberto Pagani<\/strong> (Professor of Architectural Technology at the Polytechnic University of Turin) and Sergio Cavalieri<\/strong> (Rector at the University of Bergamo) discussed how China is establishing itself as a global innovation laboratory, with significant implications for scientific research, technological development, and urban regeneration.<\/p>\n
